Hi everyone,
A warning from our vets to keep our personal items out of pets’ reach after many pets require treatment after finding chocolates, lilies and sickness medication around the house. Dogs can sometimes eat the whole box of chocolates and will need to be rushed to a clinic with toxic poisoning symptoms. Medications such as paracetamol can cause quite severe symptoms in dogs and cats . Lilies are toxic to cats when they ingest them and can cause kidney failure. I have got a great video for you on my youtube channel “Toxic Foods” which you can quickly watch and may save your pet’s life. Here’s the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oKNqikvn2o0
COFFEE – all forms cause heart/nervous system/urinary damage

TOMATOES — green leaves/stems are toxic BUT fruit is fine and will not harm your pup
APPLES/APRICOTS/CHERRIES/PEACHES/PLUMS – green leaves/stems/seeds are toxic BUT fruit is fine and will not harm your dog
Take your pup to the vet as soon as possible and contact your vet or pet poisons helpline.
Keep Hydrogen Peroxide 3% in your first aid cupboard along with a plastic syringe. If you are instructed to induce vomiting (50/50 with water) you are prepared and may save your dog’s life. Induced vomiting is not always the solution especially when dealing with caustic substances so consult your vet first.

In Australia contact your local pet emergency clinic http://www.aecvets.com.au/AEC-Centres/5-AEC-Gold-Coast.aspx. This is the Gold Coast link but their website will direct you to Australia wide clinics. I have used this emergency clinic and found it very good.
